The Government of the Azores marks the World Tourism Day, on Saturday, September 27. This year will be dedicated to the theme "Tourism and Community Development."
In order to celebrate the date, the Government will develop several activities targeted at tourists with the aim of promoting the unique features of the Azores, thus providing visitors with a greater knowledge about the culture, gastronomy and handicrafts of the Azores.
This Saturday, all guests staying at hotel accommodation units will receive a gift and tourism offices will hold tasting sessions of Azorean products.
Under the celebrations of the World Tourism Day, there will be various indoor and outdoor activities on several islands.
The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport will visit a rural tourism undertaking on the island of Terceira.
