Government recommended SATA to increase links to Horta, Flores and Corvo, reveals Vítor Fraga
The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport revealed in Horta that the Government of the Azores recommended SATA Air Açores to introduce some changes to the winter schedule in force, increasing air links to Horta during weekends.
Vítor Fraga spoke to journalists at the end of a meeting with the Mayor of Horta, pointing out that, under the relation "between the grantor, the Region, and the concessionaire, SATA Air Açores, the necessary recommendations were issued to implement these changes so that they enter into force within eight days."
Hence, starting on November 21, the air links to Horta will be increased during weekends from one to three flight connections, including a direct link to Flores (outbound and inbound flights).
Another change will be made in order to coordinate schedules, allowing those who travel from Flores to Horta to so on Tuesdays and Thursdays, through a connecting flight via Terceira.
As for the island of Corvo, there will be a direct link between the smallest island of the archipelago and Horta on Mondays and Fridays.
"With these changes, we will now provide better mobility conditions for all Azoreans," stressed Vítor Fraga.
The Secretary for Transport recalled that these changes come as a result "of a wider programme under the revision of Public Service Obligations." This is "the first IATA season when these obligations are in force."
"Naturally, we are always willing to evaluate the aspects that need to be improved in order to correct them," assured the Regional Secretary.
