Investment in São Jorge road network amounts to 3.9 million Euros in this legislative period, Vítor Fraga
The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport revealed tidy that the investment in road network of São Jorge in this legislative period will reach a total of around 3.9 million Euros.
Vítor Fraga spoke during a visit to the rehabilitation and upgrading works of the access road to Fajã do Ouvidor. The government official stressed that, through this legislative period, the Government of the Azores has already "made investments in the road network of São Jorge amounting to nearly 1.4 million Euros that have already been concluded, such as the village of Calheta. There are also ongoing investments amounting to 2.5 million Euros."
Upon the completion of this investment, "the land road network will be covered on the island of São Jorge in terms of regional roads, allowing better circulation with higher levels of safety," said Vítor Fraga.
The works visited today is included in a series of interventions that the Regional Government is developing in the regional network in order to improve traffic conditions and improve safety levels.
"This road section includes the repaving, but also the necessary elements to improve road drainage," said Vítor Fraga. The government official added that this work is intended to "increase traffic safety conditions on the road, providing all those use it, both residents and visitors, with better conditions for circulation. In this context, we cannot forget that this is a tourist site of São Jorge Island."
