Marketing of tourism operation between Madrid and Terceira starts on October 2, reveals Vítor Fraga
The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport revealed in Angra do Heroísmo that the marketing of the tourism operation to be carried out by Portugal Tours, which will link Madrid to Terceira Island, starts on October 2. The first flight is scheduled for November 25.
"It is a yearly operation, with 52 flight connections, which has the potential to generate 60 thousand overnight stays on Terceira Island," said Vítor Fraga, who spoke at the end of a meeting with the representative of Portugal Tours.
The Secretary for Tourism added that this operation "is part of the efforts the Government has undertaken and is another piece in the construction of one of structural pillars, in terms of accessibility to the island of Terceira, to boost the dynamics of the tourism sector and its sustainability."
One should recall that Vítor Fraga recently announced the details of the operation that will connect Boston to Terceira during the IATA winter.
Asked about the choice of source markets for both operations (USA and Spain), the Regional Secretary stressed that "these are the two foreign markets that have registered the highest number of overnight stays on Terceira in 2014, which demonstrate a natural trend to visit this island."
Vítor Fraga also stressed that "there is clearly a need, on the part of Azores Tourism, to take maximum advantage of all the investment that has been made in these markets."
