The announcement of a public tender for the provision of regular inter-island flights in the Autonomous Region of the Azores was published today in the Official Journal.
Under this tender, the Regional Government will award to the concessionaire the operation of regular air services in the following routes:
Ponta Delgada-Santa Maria-Ponta Delgada (PDL-SMA-PDL), Ponta Delgada-Terceira-Ponta Delgada (PDL-TER-PDL), Ponta Delgada-Horta-Ponta Delgada (PDL-HOR-PDL), Ponta Delgada-Pico-Ponta Delgada (PDL-PIX-PDL), Ponta Delgada-São Jorge-Ponta Delgada (PDL-SJZ-PDL), Ponta Delgada-Flores-Ponta Delgada (PDL-FLW-PDL), Terceira-Graciosa-Terceira (TER-GRW-TER), Terceira-São Jorge-Terceira (TER-SJZ-TER), Terceira-Pico-Terceira (TER-PIX-TER), Terceira-Horta-Terceira (TER-HOR-TER), Terceira-Flores-Terceira (TER-FLW-TER), Horta-Flores-Horta (HOR-FLW-HOR), Horta-Corvo-Horta (HOR-CVU-HOR) and Corvo-Flores-Corvo (CVU-FLW-CVU).
The base price of the procedure is set at 135 million Euros. Interested parties are required to submit their proposals within 60 days.
The evaluation of proposals will take into account the amount of financial compensation required, the weekly frequency and the number of seats provided on a weekly basis.
The Public Service Obligations for inter-island air transport have led to the greatest reduction ever in terms of inter-island accessibility costs. They will take effect on October 1.
