The Regional Secretariat for Science, Technology and Infrastructures has awarded the contract work for the construction of a car par in the Caldeira de Santo Cristo on regional road no.2 - 2nd Ribeira Seca/Topo in the municipality of Calheta, São Jorge island.

This intervention will be carried out in one of the most emblematic places of São Jorge and is intended to build a car park to support the visitors to Fajã de Santo Cristo with 7 places for cars, 2 places for buses or 4 places for taxis, and one place for people with disabilities. The car park will have curve radii to help buses making u-turns in that place.

Moreover, this work also includes a pedestrian connection to the Caldeira de Santo Cristo trail, the construction of a shelter for visitors and the preparation of hiking activities, a walking area and a viewpoint.

The contract work was awarded to the company Tecnovia Açores, Sociedade de Empreitadas SA. with a budget of 110 thousand Euros and a completion period of 90 days. The interventions will be carried out in an 875 m2 area.
