Regional Government implements new measures for movement of health professionals on São Miguel Island
The Regional Government, following the implementation of sanitary cordons in all municipalities of São Miguel Island, has decided to speed up the movement of authorised vehicles with the installation of road signs at the Livramento junction for use by health professionals, heavy vehicles and emergency vehicles.
These vehicles must be duly authorised and identified with a badge created by the Regional Directorate for Public Works and Communications that will be allocated by the Divino Espirito Santo Hospital and the São Miguel Island Health Unit.
Hence, the identified vehicles will be allowed to circulate in the corridors specifically created for this purpose.
In the remaining security posts, the movement of emergency vehicles, namely ambulances, firefighters or security forces, is authorised through direct contact with the Command Post, which will speed up their movement whenever necessary.
The Regional Secretariat for Transport and Public Works maintains the permanent monitoring of regional roads in collaboration with the coordination team of sanitary cordons, through the Regional Directorate for Public Works and Communications, in conjunction with the Azores Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service and the Public Security Police Command.
The Resolution of the Council of the Government establishing the sanitary cordons in each municipality of São Miguel Island remains in force until 12 am of April 17.
