Study on expansion of Pico Aerodrome runway completed by the end of the first semester, announces Ana Cunha
The Regional Secretary for Transport and Public Works announced today that the study to assess the operating conditions of Pico Island Aerodrome should be completed by the end of the first half of 2020.
Ana Cunha stated that the procedure, which "follows a recommendation issued by the President of the Government in February of last year," was "recently awarded to the company Coba Consultores." According to her, it will "include a diagnosis of eventual technical and operational constraints to commercial aviation as well as a forecast of the impact of the current operating conditions in terms of cancellations, delays and possible diversions of commercial flights, initially bound to Pico, diverting to other destinations."
Additionally, the study "will also contain a cost-benefit analysis of each of the solutions that may be put forward to eliminate or reduce these operational constraints and a list of possible funding sources for the proposed solutions, including the availability of funds under the current and the next Community Framework," added the Regional Secretary.
