Tender for construction of RO-RO ramp and ancillary works in Pipas Port in Angra do Heroísmo already launched
The tender for the construction of the ramp for RO-RO ships and ferry boats as well as the ancillary works to improve the operating and shelter conditions of Pipas Porto in Angra do Heroísmo was launched today with the publication of opening notice in the Official Gazette.
Launched by Portos dos Açores, S.A. (Regional Port Authorities), the tender has a base price of 15 million Euros and a stipulated completion period set at 24 months from the date of the awarding of the contract work or the approval of the safety and health plan.
The contract work provides for the expansion of the quay with bottom depth of -8.00 m (HZ) by 62.68 metres, creating with a mooring berth of about 145.75 metres, as well as the construction of a mooring dolphin in the same alignment of the quay at a distance of 34.26 metres (to the axis) from the top of the "expanded" quay, which will enable the operation of the thematic cruise ships.
The works will also include the construction of a RO-RO ramp to be built at the end of the existing quay at a depth of -5.00 m (HZ). It will be located within Pipas port with a width of 12.50 metres and a service depth of -5.00 m (HZ) for the operation of ferry boats “Gilberto Mariano” and “Mestre Jaime Feijó.”
The reconstruction of the travel lift on the external area (north side) of the RO-RO ramp, the expansion of the existing protection wall to new jetty head are other interventions included in this contract work. Moreover, it also provides for the widening of the platform of the marina reception quay and the rearrangement of the berths in order to adapt them to the sizes of the vessels currently looking for this infrastructure, in addition to the replacement of the existing mooring bollards with larger ones.
Interested parties will now have 36 days to submit their proposals for the completion of the contract work.
On August 9, the President of the Government announced at the blessing and presentation ceremony of the new passenger and vehicle transport vessel “Mestre Jaime Feijó” that the Regional Government, through the Regional Port Authorities, planned to launch this tender until de end of August.
