The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport announced in Achada that the integrated plan for the recovery of public spaces, designated as "ValorUrbe," will be endowed with one million Euros in 2014.
Speaking to journalists after visiting the contract works for the connection of rua das Pedras to Achada branch road, Vítor Fraga revealed that "will carry out several interventions under "ValorURbe," a programme presented by the President of the Government, starting in the second semester of this year. With an allocation of one million Euros in 2014, this programme will revitalise and improve public spaces in all the villages of our archipelago."
According to the Regional Secretary, "ValorURbe" will also "allow smaller companies that work locally to carry these works in order to boost the local economy."
Vítor Fraga pointed out some works to be carried out under "ValorURbe," including the recovery of Angústias Mill on Faial, which will restored as tourist spot, the creation of recreational spaces, particularly near Água d'Alto Beach, or various interventions on buildings used by the local community.
Regarding the works visited on Friday morning, the Regional Secretary said "they fall under the strategy that the Regional Government has been developing with the aim of recovering the road network, through a series of lower value interventions, which will boost the development of the local economy since local companies will able to bid for these tenders, as it was the case of this contract work; the latter is being carried out by a company from Nordeste."
