Vítor Fraga announces "series of minor interventions" to improve public spaces

The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport announced on Monday that the Government of the Azores will carry out a "series of minor interventions with the aim of improving and revitalising public spaces."

Vítor Fraga spoke during a visit to the site where the pavement works of the access path to Gruta do Carvão (cave) are being carried out. The government official stressed that these interventions will contribute, on the one hand, to "boost local economies by allowing smaller companies to bid for these tenders" and, one the other hand, to ensure the sustainability of regional development.

In the case of the work site he visited on Monday afternoon, the Regional Secretary stressed that this works "arises from the need to improve the access to Gruta do Carvão," being the result of "a protocol established between the Government of the Azores, the Amigos dos Açores Ecological Association and Euroscut."

According to Vítor Fraga, this intervention is part of the Regional Government's goal of "improving the access to the most important tourist attractions by enhancing our natural resources and creating the conditions for operators to be able to carry their activities more effectively. Moreover, these interventions are also intended to provide visitors with the opportunity of "enjoying even more" the good things the Azores have to offer.
