Vítor Fraga says Tourism sector continues to generate "confidence" among Azorean entrepreneurs
The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport stated in Ribeira Grande the Tourism sector "continues to generate confidence" among the regional business sector.
Speaking during a visit to the construction site of the Santa Bárbara Beach & Mountain Villas tourist resort, Vítor Fraga stressed the "intention of moving forward with similar projects in order to enhance the development of already existing tourist products and adapt hotel units to the practice of these activities," which will certainly bring added value."
According to the Regional Secretary, the leveraging of more investments to this area and the support to the development of hotel units that will join the promotion of specific tourist products, especially those related to the sea, are in line with the goals set out in the Government's programme." These investments will "seize the potentialities of already existing products and bring added value to the regional tourism offer, thus increasing tourism flows in the Region."
For Vítor Fraga, this type of project falls within one the major strategies for the tourism sector, "which is the investment in the improvement of our tourism offer."
In this regard, the government official stressed that the Santa Bárbara Beach & Mountain Villas resort "safeguards several environmental aspects and is being built with endogenous materials." In addition, it will also contribute to "the promotion of regional tourist products; most of which are nature-related, being in line with the main features of our destination."
Therefore, the government official considered that this undertaking is "significantly relevant in regard to the improvement of the regional tourism offer. It falls under the strategy developed by the Regional Government for the development of the sector." This strategy aims "to improve the best we have to offer by generating added value throughout the tourism sector and making the best use of the Region's unique features for the organisation of activities in various areas."
