Angra do Heroísmo Museum opens "Creative Residency 2017 - wood cut and inlay works" exhibition
The Vice-Presidency of the Government, through the Regional Centre for Handicrafts (CRAA), opens an exhibition under the title "Creative Residency 2017 - wood cut and inlay works" at the Angra do Heroísmo Museum next Friday, April 6, at 6 PM.
The Creative Residency project aims to launch products on the market in which the craft component is significant and ensure the sustainability of artisans' work in order to reach new markets, through the integration of products into the Azores Handicrafts brand.
Like other initiatives promoted by CRAA to acknowledge the value of Azorean craft arts, this Creative Residency emerges as an opportunity to promote the dialogue between traditional knowledge and a more conceptual and contemporary approach to it.
This exhibition will display the works produced in the 5th edition of the Creative Residency held under the Craft & Art project on Terceira Island in 2017. It involved the participation of two craft production units dedicated to wood inlay works and other wood arts: the unit owned by Susana Almeida and Francisco Pereira and the unit owned by product designer Susana António.
The exhibition, which includes activities with artisans in their workshops, will be open until April 29 and may be visited from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 AM and 5:30 PM.
