The Azores Handicraft participates, for the first time, at the Comptoir Helvétique International Fair in Lausanne, Switzerland, an initiative of the Vice-Presidency of the Government, through the Regional Centre for Handicrafts (CRAA).
The Comptoir Helvétique takes place from September 13 to 22 September. It is an international fair that hosts 200 exhibitors and receives 150 thousand visitors, not only professionals and craft lovers but also those interested in handicrafts as a cultural manifestation.
This edition, in which Portugal will be the guest country, features two Azorean artisans: João Pereira & Filhos in the embroidery category and Adolfo Mendonça in the ceramics category, both from Terceira Island.
Participation in this event falls within the Craft&Art project. This is an initiative aimed at the repositioning of the Azores Handicrafts, through the dissemination of products bearing the Azores Handicraft seal, while emphasising the innovation and sustainability of handicraft products from a new generation of artisans.
The investment in the presence of regional companies in exhibitions such as this one taking place in Switzerland intends to reach new market segments, strengthening entrepreneurial capacity and enhancing the visibility of the Azores Handicrafts the international scene for its differentiating identity and quality.
