The Regional Centre for Handicrafts (CRAA) presents the "PopCraft" project in Ponta Delgada on Friday and will announce the winners of the "Kiosk PopCraft" contest. The ceremony will be held at Ateneu Criativo, starting at 2:30 PM, and will be attended the Regional Director for Support to the Investment and Competitiveness, Ricardo Medeiros.
The "PopCraft" project was created by CRAA with the aim of raising the visibility of Azorean craft activities and provide greater support to the marketing of craft products under a perspective towards the renewal, dissemination and promotion of the "Azores Handicrafts" brand.
This project involves the construction of kiosks in public spaces on several Azorean islands with a design that promotes its urban integration; they are intended to be environmentally friendly and easily removable in order to facilitate their assembly and disassembly.
Following this initiative, the Regional Centre for Handicrafts and the Department of Architecture of the University of the Azores have launched the "Kiosk PopCraft" contest, an initiative addressed at architecture students that aims to promote the development of innovative architectural concepts for an urban kiosk.
