Regional handicrafts exhibition at AÇOREXPO during Holy Christ of Miracles Festivities
The Government of the Azores, through the Regional Handicrafts Centre (CRAA), promotes, as in previous years, the "M. ART do Santo Cristo dos Milagres" exhibition. It is part of AÇOREXPO, an event that will be held in Alameda do Mar in Ponta Delgada from May 23 to 29.
The goal of this initiative is to disseminate regional handicrafts and boost the sale of products made by various craft production units that will participate in the event.
“M. ART. do Santo Cristo dos Milagres” will feature 40 craft production units; four of which make food products. The products created by the remaining units comprise a wide range of areas and techniques: whale bone, vegetable fibre, embroidery, lace, jewellery, weaving, patchwork, crochet, Holy Christ of Miracles "registos" (representations) and "presépios de lapinha" (nativity scenes).
In addition to the participation of artisans from São Miguel, the display of regional handicrafts also features artisans from Terceira, Faial and Pico.
The exhibition also marks the beginning of the campaign that the Regional Handicrafts Centre will promote throughout the year with the aim of disseminating the craft products certified under the collective brand "Azores Handicrafts." In this context, the campaign will enhance the visibility of certified products, contribute to the recognition of their cultural value and leverage the investment of artisans in the dissemination and promotion of their products.
