The Regional Director for Employment and Vocational Training highlighted in Santa Cruz da Graciosa the importance of data published by the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP) regarding September. They confirm, on the one hand, the decrease in the number unemployed and, on the other hand, the continued and sustained growth of employment.
"The reduction of 11.3 percent in September this year compared to the same period in the previous year reaches a new low in seven years. This means that the Regional Government's policies, based on the increase of public and private investment, economic growth and the creation of more and better jobs, has yielded results," said Paula Andrade. She spoke on the sidelines of another session for the dissemination of hiring support programmes.
According to the IEFP data, the regional Agencies for Employment and Qualification registered 7,772 unemployed in September, corresponding to 982 fewer unemployed in comparison with the same month in 2017," added Paula Andrade. According to her, "the number of unemployed declined 2.1% on Graciosa compared to the same period last year."
With regard to filled job vacancies, "there was an increase of almost 21% in the Azores," the Regional Director added, stressing that "this regional trend is also visible on Graciosa."
"The training interventions and the measures promoted by the Regional Government have increase qualifications and skills, contributing to integration of a growing number of Azoreans into the labour market," said Paula Andrade.
