The Regional Director for Employment and Vocational Training highlighted in the Lagoa that the data published today by the Institute for Employment and Professional Training (IEFP) show a fall in unemployment over 11% in the Azores.
"According to information from IEFP, there was a decrease of 11.2% in unemployment in the Region in February, compared to the same period of the previous year," Paula Andrade said, noting that this drop "represents 965 fewer unemployed in comparison with last year."
As of late February, the Regional Agencies for Qualification and Employment registered 7,665 unemployed search for the first or new job.
The Regional Director spoke during an awareness-raising session on employment programmes and measures at Lagoa Vocational Training Schools. On the occasion, she highlighted that, regarding the creation of jobs, "there was an increase of job placements of 18.6%" in comparison with the same month of last year.
In February, the job placement ratio, that is, the response to job offers at the Regional Agencies for Qualification and Employment stood at 79.6%.
