The Regional Director for Employment and Vocational Training highlighted the data published by the Institute for Employment and Professional Training (IEFP) regarding June, considering them “an incentive to pursue policies that have resulted in reduced unemployment and the creation of more stable and better paid jobs."
"According to IEFP, unemployment in the Azores fell again by more than 11%, more specifically 11.6%, in June, compared to the same period of the previous year. This represents 926 fewer people looking for a first and new job," said Paula Andrade, who spoke after a visit to a company dedicated to accounting, auditing and consulting.
Additionally, the data also show that the Qualification and Employment Agencies registered 7,084 applications in June.
In this context, the Regional Director revealed that, as regards new applications for the first or new job, "there was a decrease of 20.6% in the Azores in June."
With regard to the job placement ratio, i.e., the ratio of job responses to job offers, this figure stood at 84.7%.
"The measures and training initiatives promoted by the Regional Government, aimed at the unemployed, have contributed to the improvement of qualifications and skills with a view to the integration of an ever-growing number of Azoreans into the labour market," said Paula Andrade.
