Two young Azoreans were awarded Medals of Excellence in the 43rd edition of EuroSkills - European Skills Championship held in Budapest, Hungary. The event involved the participation of about 600 people from 28 countries in 40 occupations.
The Medals of Excellence, awarded only to competitors who score more than 500 points in the competitions, were delivered to José Pedro Ferreira Franco and Paulo Alexandre Lourenço Ferreira, graduates in Management of Computer Networks at ENTA - School of New Technologies of the Azores, São Miguel Island.
This championship, where the best qualified graduates from across Europe compete for the title in each occupation, is held every two years in different countries and is open to competitors up to 25 years of age.
This year, the Portuguese delegation included three Azorean competitors as well as the participation of José Daniel Viveiros de Medeiros, from the School of New Technologies of the Azores, as judge in the Management of Computer Networks competition, and António José Cabral Paquete, from Capelas Vocational Training School, as Team Leader.
Ana Filipa Carolas Coelho, student from Praia da Vitória Vocational Training School, and the two students from ENTA - School of New Technologies of the Azores will participate in Worldskills International, which will take place in 2019 in the city of Kazan, Russia.
Both in the European competition and in the world championship, Azorean competitors, who received their vocational training in regional schools, have a remarkable record of good results, including champion titles and numerous medals.
