The Regional Director for the Budget and Treasury stated that the overall budget execution balance in the regional consolidation perimeter reached 21.5 million Euros in February over the same period of last year. According to him, this figure "evidences the policies pursued by the Regional Government to control public expenditure in view of the stability of regional public finances."
"As in the previous month, the consolidated budget execution of the Azores registered a positive overall balance of 21.5 million Euros," José António Gomes said, defending that this budget balance results "from a 191.4 million-Euro revenue and a public expenditure of 169.9 million Euros."
The Regional Director also pointed out that the balance recorded in the previous month is still higher than that of 2018, standing at 3.7 million Euros, "due to the fact that the revenue evolution pace was more favourable than that observed for expenditure."
According to José António Gomes, tax revenue "continues to evolve at a good pace, within the Government's forecasts, reaching the sum of 103.8 million Euros, i.e., 1.9% more than in February 2018."
With regard to the Region's own revenue, which also contributed to these good results, the figure reached 112.1 million Euros, representing "4.5% more than the corresponding value of the previous year," stated the Regional Director for the Budget and Treasury.
"These data certainly contribute to the strengthening of the quality of regional public finance management," said José António Gomes.
