Budget execution in the Azores improves by 20.3 million Euros in the first four months of 2019
The Regional Director for the Budget and Treasury stated today that the budget execution in the Regional Public Administration consolidation perimeter has significantly improved its budget balance in the first four months of 2019 by 20.3 million Euros more than in the same period of 2018.
"This improvement is the result of the goals set out by the Regional Government in its rigorous policies for the containment of public expenditure and the careful budgeting of revenue," said José António Gomes. As he emphasised, this positive balance is the result of a year-on-year variation of effective revenue (+ 4.5%) more significant than the corresponding evolution of effective expenditure (-0.9%).
The current expenditure of the Regional Public Administration in the period under review amounted to 282.8 million Euros, registering a year-on-year variation of 0.2%.
In turn, the effective revenue in the Azores reached 391.9 million Euros in April, i.e., 4.5% more than in the same period of the previous year, continuing to maintain a global evolution in line with the Regional Government's forecasts.
The Region's own revenue amounted to 211.3 million Euros in April, i.e., 5.5% more than in the same period of 2019.
"Once again, the stability of the Region's public accounts is demonstrated through budget execution data regarding the first four months of 2019," emphasised the Regional Director.
