The proposal for the reallocation of the financial resources available for the Cooperation Programme designated as INTERREG VA Spain-Portugal MAC (Madeira-Azores-Canary Islands) 2014-2020 was approved in Madrid at a meeting attended by the Government of the Azores.
The Regional Director for Planning and Structural Funds pointed out that this programme management meeting has allowed the implementation and eventual allocation of financial resources released due to reduced application in other cooperation programmes. In this regard, he pointed out the increase over 20% in the allocation for the participation of the Azores partners in the new call for submission of projects.
Rui Amann stressed that this non-refundable Community reimbursement amounting to one million Euros will add up to the initially estimated 5 million Euros, thus representing an eligible expenditure of 5.9 million Euros.
More than three dozen projects were approved in the first call of this cooperation programme, comprising a variety of areas such as research and development, climate change, risk prevention, culture and environmental preservation as well as collective actions promoted by business structures.
These projects represent an overall allocation of approximately 6 million Euros in Community funding.
The second call, with an increase of three million Euros in funds for the three regions - Azores, Madeira and Canary Islands - partners in this territorial cooperation programme, is scheduled for the end of this year.
