Regional Government opens applications for support amounting to 7 million Euros under ERDF and invites university to develop project
The Regional Government issued an invitation to the University of the Azores to open applications for ERDF support under the Operational Programme (OP) amounting to 7 million Euros for the areas of cognitive computing and sustainable mobility, with special emphasis on electrical mobility. The primary goal is to develop an exploratory project in the field of artificial intelligence.
The Azores 2020 PO is a program supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF). It will be managed by the Regional Directorate for Planning and Structural Funds, a department under the administration of the Vice-Presidency of the Government, Employment and Business Competitiveness.
The invitation addressed to the University of the Azores aims to develop a project within the study of the impact of catastrophes and natural disasters, covering the areas of tourism, agriculture and the maritime economy.
This project also aims to introduce one of the most advanced computational technological tools in the Region, which will be decisive for increasing forecasting capacity, preparing responses to extreme natural events and defining strategic plans for socioeconomic sustainability.
In parallel, the Azores 2020 PO has launched several opening notices regarding application for the full coverage of the territory with public charging stations for electric vehicles, following action plans for electric mobility that include information systems, support to vehicle users and the promotion of awareness-raising and dissemination actions in this area.
In addition to these applications, a notice is also open for the construction of cycle lanes and the acquisition of bicycles. These so-called soft modes of transport, in coordination with electric mobility, will strengthen public actions oriented towards sustainable mobility of the Azores within the framework of a strategic orientation towards a regional low carbon economy.
