The results of PROCONVERGÊNCIA 2007-2013, an Operational Programme funded by the European Union through ERDF Structural Fund, will be presented at a seminar to take place at the Whaling Factory in Porto Pim on Monday, December 16.
The Regional Director for Planning and Structural Funds, Rui Amann, who is also the manager of PROCONVERGÊNCIA, will present main results achieved so far by this programme in the Azores at a meeting that will address the sea in the context of regional policy and Community support.
With over a thousand operations approved, representing approximately a public investment of 1.3 billion Euros, of which 943 million Euros have already been invested in works carried out across the regional territory, PROCONVERGÊNCIA was the programme that registered the best performance in Portugal during the programming period 2007-2013.
The seminar will also include the presentation of examples of good practices under the support allocated by PROCONVERGÊNCIA to programmes on the theme of the sea that were developed by the Department of Oceanography and Fisheries of the University of Azores, the Regional Directorate for Fisheries and the Rebikoff-Niggeler Foundation. In addition, the framework of the sector in the context of regional public policies will be another theme to be addressed by the Regional Directorate for Sea Affairs at this meeting.
