Azorean Government opens tender for Development and Business Innovation Centre of Santa Maria
The Vice-Presidency of the Government, through Ilhas de Valor, has launched the tender for the contract work to adapt the former building of the General Workshops of Santa Maria Airport for the installation of the Development and Business Innovation Centre of this island.
With a budget 1.7 million Euros, this work is included in preservation and enhancement of the island's historical heritage, which falls within the strategy to strengthen the cohesive development of the archipelago.
According to the notice published today in the Official Journal, this contract has a completion period of 365 days and provides for the adaptation of the existing building with the goal of contributing to the promotion of the economy and the creation of jobs.
In this regard, the intervention includes the creation of a multipurpose space where a business incubator will be installed to assist entrepreneurs in the development of new businesses.
The project also comprises training and exhibition rooms, marketing areas, spaces for offices and services, a "FabLab" that will be located in the so-called Endogenous Resources Laboratory and the installation of creative industries. It will benefit the island’s economy island and the local population in general.
