The Azores will participate will have their own space at Santa Apolónia Cruise Terminal in Lisbon during “The Tall Ships Races,” a competition historically linked to the sea and sailing to be held between July 22 and 25.
The participation of the Region in this event, with a space of about 100 m2, embodies the strategy to enhance the visibility of the Azores destination and the Azores Brand. This initiative is the result of the partnership between the Azorean Government, through the Society for Business Development of the Azores (SDEA), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Azores (CCIA) and the Azores Tourism Association (ATA).
The Azores space in "The Tall Ships Race" will be open from July 22 to 24 between 10 AM and 10 PM and on July 25 from 10 AM to 3 PM; admission is free.
For four days, the event will provide visitors with the opportunity to taste and buy several regional products from the nine islands of the archipelago, highlighting agri-food products. It will also feature tasting sessions.
The presence of thousands of visitors who will attend this event in Lisbon is an opportunity to be harnessed for the promotion of the Azores as a tourist destination through the dissemination of products related to nautical tourism, with special emphasis on the boat chartering, sailing, marinas and regattas. These products also include other sea-related activities, such as whale watching and diving, and nature activities. Hence, the event will disseminate the diversity of experiences available in the Azores.
