The Vice-Presidency, Employment and Business Competitiveness of the Regional Government will open the application for "Estagiar U" programme on May 1. The application period runs until the last day of May.
The traineeships will take place from July 15 to September 30, lasting one month and being promoted by public and private companies.
The "Estagiar" programme, created in 2010, comprises the following categories: "Estagiar L" for recent graduates or holders of a Master's degree; "Estagiar T" for vocational training graduates and "Estagiar U" for university students.
This initiative has been an effective tool in the integration of thousands of youngsters in the labour market.
The "Estagiar U" programme, whose annual application period is about to start, is addressed at young students living in the Region, who are attending university courses that confer a bachelor degree or a master's degree in accordance to the provisions of the Bologna process.
The Government of the Azores will provide students with a financial compensation corresponding to the regional minimum wage while the promoting entities are required to insure trainees against workplace accidents, which must necessarily cover all trainees.
The "Estagiar U" programme has registered a growing number of applications since 2010, reaching 739 applications last year, of which 616 were approved.
Based on requests for information on the programme that have been made to the services of the Regional Directorate for Employment and Vocational Training, it is estimated that a total of one thousand university students may apply for this traineeship programme.
This year, for the first time, applications for "Estagiar U" will be exclusively made at the following electronic address www.estagiar.azores.gov.pt.
