Under the strategy for the promotion of traditional trade, the Vice-Presidency of the Government allocated 100 thousand Euros to the chambers of commerce and industry of the Azores to finance the promotion of traditional trade activities during the Christmas period.
"The Government of the Azores is undertaking efforts to create the conditions for the promotion of traditional trade during this time of the year," namely through "the financing of promotional actions and the dissemination of commercial establishments located in urban areas," said the Vice-President.
Sérgio Ávila stressed that "this extremely significant support is another effort of cooperation with Azorean companies" so that they may "ensure the recovery of economic activity on a consistent basis."
The official stressed that the latest indicators published by the Regional Statistics Service regarding the third quarter also reveal a "significant growth" in retail trade.
"There is a growth [in sales] of four percent over the same period, which is a sign that the recovery has also reached this important part of our business activity," said Sérgio Ávila. He added that the Government of the Azores wants to "strengthen the trend during this period" by creating "the conditions that will increase the attraction and dynamics of urban centres."
