Number of registered unemployed in the Azores is the lowest of the last 44 months
The Vice-President of the Government highlighted the fact that the number of unemployed registered in Regional Employment Centres in June is the lowest of the last 44 months, registering a reduction of 6.8 percent compared to the same month last year.
Commenting on the statistical information released by the National Government, through the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training Institute, Sérgio Ávila stressed that the Region "has been assuring a sustainable and consolidated reduction in the number of registered unemployed."
According to the Vice-President, this trend shows that the options taken are the right ones and that "all active employment measures in force have produced results."
"Currently, the number of unemployed in the Azores is the lowest of this legislative period as well as the lowest of the last 44 months," said the government official.
"The increase of job offers has greatly contributed to the accomplishment of these goals," Sérgio Ávila said, pointing out, as example, the comparison of the job offer between the same months under analysis (June 2015 and June 2016), registering a growth of 116%.
The Vice-President also highlighted the fact that the growth of job offers and the reduction of registered unemployed are more positive in the Azores than the national average in the same period of time.
"These results give us satisfaction and confidence to continue following the path we have followed," Sérgio Ávila said, adding that they are also a source of "more energy, more confidence and more strength" to provide those who are still unemployed "a solution," such as the one we have found for "the thousands of "Azoreans who have found a job in the Azores in recent times."
