Number of registered unemployed in the Azores is the lowest of the last seven years
The Vice-President of the Government stressed the importance of the data released today by the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP), which confirm a continuous and sustained growth of employment in the Azores.
"The decrease of 10% registered in August compared to the same month of the previous year represents a new historical minimum in seven years. This shows that the Regional Government's policies based on the promotion of private investment, public investment and wealth generation have resulted in more and better jobs," said Sérgio Ávila. As he emphasised, "the number of registered unemployed is the lowest of the last seven years. "
According to data from IEFP, there were 7,898 registered unemployed in August, corresponding to 881 fewer unemployed compared to the same month of the previous year.
These data also evidence the trend registered in previous months regarding the increase in the number of job offers at the Agencies for Qualification and Employment.
Sérgio Ávila noted that the "data are positive and should be acknowledged in the context of a serious and responsible governance, which marks the new cycle of development of the Azores," stressed Sérgio Ávila.
