The number of unemployed registered at the Regional Agencies for Qualification and Employment decreased 10.1% in October. According to data published today by the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP), the data corresponds the lowest figures registered in the Region in the last six years.
According to these data and keeping the trend of the previous months, we need to go back to October 2011 to find a lower number than that recorded in the month under analysis.
The drop registered in October corresponds to 978 fewer registered Azoreans compared to the same month of 2016.
The IEFP data also shows that this new decrease also occurs in comparison with the previous month.
According to the same source, there was also an upward trend in the number of vacancies provided by job offers in the labour market, which grew 14.4% over the previous month.
Regarding requested job offers, IEFP reveals a growth of 34.8% compared to the same period of 2016.
Since the highest number of unemployed was registered in the Region, there has been a consistent reduction in the number of unemployed in the Azores.
This progressive and consistent reduction in registered unemployment has been possible due to the action taken by Azorean companies and workers in conjunction with public measures to support the creation of more and better jobs as well as the sustainable growth of regional economy.
