Regional Entrepreneurship Competition with 11 projects selected for the second phase
The jury of the Regional Entrepreneurship Competition has selected for the second phase, which runs until October 15, 11 of the 61 projects submitted under this initiative.
This first phase will be followed by the selection of the three winning projects, which will take place between October 16 and 30. The projects were submitted under the Regional Entrepreneurship Competition, which registered a significant increase compared to the number applications submitted in previous editions.
"We are faced with the demonstration of a greater capacity and the entrepreneurial spirit on the part of Azorean youngsters," said the Vice-President of the Government.
Sérgio Ávila also highlighted "the diversity of projects, which covered a wide range of business areas, as well as their distribution by almost all islands." The government official revealed that a total of 74 people participated in this initiative, of whom 47 are men and 27 are women."
"The event fully corresponds to our expectations towards our goal to promote the best ideas for the creation of promising businesses. We expect to render their implementation more effective by providing consultancy and advisory services or training in order to ensure success of the winning projects," said the government official.
For Sérgio Ávila, "Azorean youngsters have demonstrated once again that they not only believe in themselves and in their abilities, but also that they believe in the future of the Region."
According to him, this will enable regional economy "to pursue the path of renewal and renovation of its business fabric with a positive impact on the development of the Region."
Developed by the Vice-Presidency of the Government, through the Society for the Business Society, the Regional Entrepreneurship Contest (SDEA) will award cash prizes in the amount of 25 thousand Euros to the 1st place, 20 thousand to the 2nd place and 15 thousand Euros to the 3rd place.
However, these prizes will be awarded on the condition that they will be added to the share capital of the companies to be established for the development of the award-winning business.
