Regional Government doubles co-funding rate in Support Programme for the Purchase of Azorean Products by Restaurants and Hotels
The Regional Government, through the Vice-Presidency, has introduced changes to the Support Programme for the Acquisition of Azorean Products by Restaurants and Hotel, as part of the measures aimed at combating the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on economic activity.
This programme provides that regional restaurant and hotel establishments can benefit from financial aid corresponding to 10% of the costs incurred with the purchase of products bearing the "Azores Brand" seal.
It will be increased to 40% in the case of regional products distinguished with the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), Controlled Designation of Origin (CDO) or the Azores Handicrafts certification.
Financial support cannot exceed the annual amount of five thousand Euros per establishment and 15 thousand Euros per company.
Accordingly, the co-funding rates provided for in this support programme are increased from 10% to 20% for the acquisition of products bearing the "Azores Brand" seal.
As regards products covered by Community-recognised designations as well as certified handicrafts from the Azores, the co-funding rate grows from 14 to 28%.
This transitional measure covers product purchases made between April 1 and December 31, 2020.
With this additional aid, we intend to support the restaurant and hospitality sectors as well as the productive sector. Moreover, this initiative will encourage the use of Azorean products, especially those bearing the "Azores Brand" seal, in regional gastronomy, thereby contributing to an easier recovery of this activity.
In this context, the Regional Government aims to provide the best conditions and use all means at its disposal with a view to resuming and revitalising the economic activity in the Region.
In this case, this is another additional support for companies, particularly for those in the restaurant sector.
