Regional Government strengthens Plan for Promotion of Azorean Products to boost exports
The Vice-President of the Regional Government is developing a series of promotional activities among regional companies during the month of November with the aim of boosting exports and consolidating internationalisation strategies.
In the context of the invitations made to companies operating in international markets, entrepreneurs from the United States, the Czech Republic and Romania have established contacts with regional companies.
This week, a representative of Lusitano Foods, USA, will establish contacts with companies from São Miguel, Terceira, São Jorge and Faial, through visits and meetings that were previously scheduled taking into consideration the interest demonstrated by this company.
With the support of the Azorean Government, the island of Faial will host a Regional Fair to showcase Azorean Products from November 14-30. This initiative is part of a series of campaigns aimed at the dissemination, promotion and commercialisation of regional products. It is developed in partnership with economic agents from various distribution channels.
Moreover, the Region will participate in two external events taking place this month: "Portugal Agro 2014 - International Fair of Regions, Agriculture and Agri-food" at the Lisbon International Fair (FIL) on November 20-23; International Fair of Cape Verde in the city of Praia on November 19-23.
The Portugal Agro 2014 Fair will feature 11 Azorean companies that will have their own stand. This will enable them to carry out promotional events and have a close contact with professionals and the public in general. Organised by the AIP Foundation, this event is the first major showcase of Portuguese regions in Lisbon.
The International Fair of Cape Verde is the largest multi-sector that is held in that country on an annual base. This event is an excellent opportunity for the Azores to strengthen the presence of Azorean products in the Cape-Verdean market and contribute to the growth of trade relations between the European space and Cape Verde.
These activities fall within the Plan for the Promotion of Azorean Products for 2014; the latter is being implemented by the Vice-Presidency of the Regional Government through the Society for the Business Development of the Azores (SDEA) with the collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Azores.
