Sérgio Ávila announces there are now over 1,200 products bearing the Azores Brand seal
The Vice-President of the Government highlighted today the "very significant adherence of Azorean producers" to the certification process of regional products under the Azores Brand seal.
Sérgio Ávila spoke at the signing ceremony of a protocol with INSCO, through which the company that already sells dozens of products bearing this seal in its commercial establishments will feature more certified products in the vegetable and fresh product aisles, making up a total of approximately three hundred products.
"The Azorean producers regard the Brand Azores as the recognition of their products," the Vice-President said, adding that, minutes before, he heard an entrepreneur revealing an increase of 30 percent in turnover thanks to the brand seal.
In his speech, Sérgio Ávila reiterated the continued commitment of the Regional Government to the Azores Brand seal, confirming its expansion to large commercial establishments in Mainland Portugal," through an intensive promotional campaign," particularly in the media.
"We have established with Grupo Sonae a very intensive campaign at Continente supermarkets, starting in the month of September," said the government official. The Vice-President added that this presence will be designated as "The Azores reach to Continente" and our expectation is place Azorean products at the reach of 4.5 million consumers on a daily basis.
For Sérgio Ávila, "the challenge now lies in the capacity of regional production to meet this significant increase in demand that will occur."
The Vice-President also stressed the importance of consuming Azorean products in the Region, urging each Azorean to "think about this when choosing a product."
"It is a contribution to the growth of employment in the Azores as well as a contribution to the development of our Region", said Sérgio Ávila.
