Sérgio Ávila reveals that 82.6% of young people who completed "Estagiar" programme in 2018 have found employment, reflecting the huge success of this measure
The Vice President of the Government revealed at the Legislative Assembly in Horta that 82.6% of young people who completed the "Estagiar L" and "Estagiar T" traineeship programmes in 2018 are working, a result that he considered to be "the best ever achieved."
"I would like to announce that, having concluded the survey of the trainees who completed the 'Estagiar L" and 'Estagiar T' programmes in 2018, 82.6% have managed to find employment within six months of completing the traineeship," said Sérgio Ávila, who spoke Thursday during a debate on this measure.
"There is an increase from 60% to 82.6%," the Vice President of the Government highlighted, considering this increase as the "most significant." According to him, "it clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of these programmes, which are complementary with other employment measures."
"It is the best result ever in terms of youth employability following the completion of the traineeship," said Sérgio Ávila.
In his speech, he also addressed other measures, which also demonstrate the success of youth employability support programmes, namely the Professional Integration Programme for "Estagiar L" and "Estagiar T" Trainees (PIIE).
In this regard, he mentioned that PIIE "has already supported the recruitment of 2,249 young people after the completion of the internship." As he added, "268 were directly recruited under contracts of indefinite duration within the Permanent Labour Stability Measure (ELP) created by the Regional Government.
The government official also pointed out that there are currently "2,366 young people enrolled the 'Estagiar' programmes," a measure created in 1998.
The Vice-President of the Government noted that this measure "has evolved very positively," ensuring that "it has contributed to the significant growth of youth employability."
According to him, the youth unemployment rate registered "a reduction of 25% in the last 12 months, compared to the previous period."
