The Vice-President of the Government stated on Terceira Island that the launch of the international public tender for the construction and operation of Praia da Vitória Port will benefit from opportunities "on a global scale" that will be enhanced by cooperation agreements established with the National Government.
Sérgio Ávila stressed that the international public tender, as already officially announced and after the completion of the environmental impact study, will be launched in the next semester. It will involve the promotion of investment advantages offered by the Region in worldwide networks.
The government official spoke to journalists at the end of a meeting with the Secretary of State for Internationalisation, Eurico Brilhante Dias, who is visiting the Azores. On the occasion, he highlighted the "joint efforts" undertaken by the Regional and National Governments to "raise private investment for the Azores."
The Vice-President pointed out that the Region is working on "40 private investment intentions," amounting to more than 140 million Euros, which have been developed "in cooperation with the National Government."
Sérgio Ávila highlighted the evolution of regional exports, particularly in the agri-food, sea and canning sectors. They are being further boosted through state negotiations with foreign markets, such as China.
