Thirty Azorean companies in agri-food sector are participating in the 20th International Food and Drinks Sector Fair (SISAB Portugal) that is running in Lisbon until Wednesday.
The Azorean participation is promoted by the Regional Government, through the Society for Business Development of the Azores (SDEA), in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Azores.
The integrated promotion of Azorean companies and products, in the 2015 Annual Plan for Fairs and Missions, recently presented, aims to contribute to the expansion of exports and, consequently, to the increase of competitiveness and productivity of the Azores business fabric.
SISAB Portugal is the largest annual gathering of companies and business leaders in exports. This year's edition will feature over 1,600 international buyers seeking the excellence of the best that is produced in the national agri-food sector.
The event is targeted at professionals, i.e., it is not open to the public in general, which, over the previous editions, provides an environment conducive to the establishment of business contacts and allow companies to do business and promote their products.
Moreover, it only allows the showcase of Portuguese products and professionals who register at SISAB, either as exhibitors or visitors, are mostly buyers/distributors of Portuguese products in many countries; the latter have been increasing from year to year.
The Azorean companies participating in this fair are headquartered on several islands and represent multiple sectors, including dairy products, meat, canned fish, sausage, pineapple, jam, honey, sweets as well as wines, liqueurs, spirits, beers and soft drinks.
In addition to the promotion of a wide range of processed Azorean products in the event, the exhibition stand of Lotaçor, Sword Fisheries and Conserveira Santa Catarina will showcase fresh fish in order to draw the attention of international buyers to the excellence of the Azores Sea fish.
