According to data published today by the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP), the number of unemployed fell in the Azores 9.6 percent in August. There are 932 fewer registered Azoreans compared to the same month of last year.
The IEFP data also shows that this new decrease also occurs in comparison with the previous month.
Once again, the number of unemployed in the Azores registers the lowest figure of the last six years, confirming a continuous and sustained growth of employment.
After the Region recorded the highest number of unemployed, there has been a consistent reduction in the number of registered unemployed in the Azores for 46 consecutive months.
The Agencies for Qualification and Employment registered 8,779 unemployed in the Region, while, as of December 2013, there 13,208 registered unemployed in the Region.
This decrease represents a reduction of 33.5 percent.
As for job offers, the data evidence a year-on-year increase of 24.4 percent.
