Unemployment registered in September is the lowest of the last six years in the Azores
According to data published today by the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP), the number of unemployed registered at Employment Agencies of the Azores fell by 10.1 percent in September, representing the lowest figure since October 2011.
The decrease registered in September corresponds to 975 fewer registered Azoreans compared to the same month of 2016.
The IEFP data also shows that this new decrease also occurs in comparison with the previous month.
Since the highest number of unemployed was registered in the Region, there has been a consistent reduction in the number of unemployed in the Azores.
According to data provided by IEFP, the Agencies for Qualification and Employment (APQE) of the Azores registered 8,704 unemployed in September, while there was 13,208 registered unemployed in December 2013.
This drop represents a reduction of 34 percent of the unemployed registered at these agencies.
Data released by IEFP also show a decline of 19.89 percent in youth unemployment compared to the same month of 2016.
This progressive and consistent reduction in registered unemployment has been possible due to the action taken by Azorean companies and workers in conjunction with public measures to support the creation of more and better jobs and the sustainable growth of regional economy.
