Regional Directorate for Prevention and Control of Dependencies announces pilot project for reintegration of alcohol addicts in post-treatment phase
The Regional Director for Prevention and Control of Dependencies announced the creation of a pilot intervention project to facilitate the reintegration of alcohol-dependent individuals in the post-treatment phase, providing support at home and in work context.
"Reintegration should be considered as a crucial and complementary part of the treatment. It is an individual process as each person has a unique background that entails the study of their needs as well as of their personal and social resources," emphasised the government official.
Suzete Frias spoke after a meeting in Angra do Heroísmo with the Board of "Casa de Saúde do Espírito Santo," a mental institution run by the Sisters Hospitallers. At the meeting, it was decided that this Regional Directorate will support the implementation of this project.
For the Regional Director for Prevention and Control of Dependencies, "there is no single intervention model applicable to all situations involving the reintegration process of users of psychoactive substances. This requires adaptations according to the needs of different individuals and the different social contexts."
This measure is developed within the action plan for the reduction of problems related to alcohol consumption that has been recently submitted to the Regional Health Council.
