Regional Inspectorate of Economic Activities and Association of Municipalities of the Azores collaborate in the fight against parallel economy
The Regional Inspectorate of Economic Activities (IRAE) and the Association of Municipalities of the Autonomous Region of the Azores (AMRAA) have signed a cooperation protocol to combat parallel economy.
This protocol aims to enhance the potentialities of this association in order to render IRAE more efficient and effective in fighting against all entities engaging in parallel economic activities, which distort the most elementary competition rules and compromise the Region and the country.
The Association of Municipalities of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, consisting of 19 Azorean municipalities, ensures a close proximity to economic operators across the archipelago, mainly among sole traders as well as micro and small companies. Furthermore, this body will be also in charge of providing them with information and the necessary tools for the exercise of their activities.
In turn, the Regional Inspectorate of Economic Activities expects that the provision of more and better information to all agents in the sector may significantly contribute to the fight against parallel economy.
One should recall that the Operational Programme to Combat Parallel Economy is one of the measures that make up the Azorean Agenda for Employment Creation and Business Competitiveness. This measure is intended to prevent the distortion of regional economy.
As it has been announced, the Regional Inspectorate of Economic Activities plans to develop, in this context, over 1,600 monitoring actions.
