Carlos César conveys support to politicians of Azorean descent running for North American elections
The President of the Government conveyed his support to the politicians of Azorean descent running for several bodies of North American democracy in the next elections scheduled for November 2.
In letters addressed to Devin Nunes, Dennis Cardoza and Jim Costa, federal congressmen, Teresa Paiva-Weed, President of the Rhode Island Senate, Marc Pacheco, senator for Massachusetts, Daniel Bridge, senator for Rhode Island, Tony Cabral, state representative of Massachusetts, Michael Robinson, also representing the same state, and Helio Melo, state representative of Rhode Island, Carlos César also wished everyone success for the midterm elections taking place next Tuesday and reiterated the government’s availability, “to continue the relation and the work we have been developing in favour of Azorean communities in the United States.”
For the President of the Regional Government, “the presence of voices that recognise and honour their Azorean roots” at all levels of U.S. policy, “is of utmost importance to the assertion of the Portuguese community and to the safeguard of their interests.”
With regard to the candidates of Azorean descent, Carlos César is convinced that “the dedication and commitment” they have always demonstrated in the performance of their duties “will, once again, be acknowledged.”
On November 2, millions of Americans will choose new members for the U.S. Congress and Senate, for the congresses and senates of thirty-seven of the fifty states that make up the country as well as for other state and local institutions, such as the case of county police commanders.
