Government of the Azores invests in the redevelopment of Santa Maria coastal areas
The Regional Secretary for the Sea, Science and Technology highlighted in Maia, Santa Maria Island, the investments that “were made and are still ongoing” in the coastal protection and redevelopment of this island, mentioning the stabilization works of the slopes on the coast of Maia, located north of the fishing port, an investment over one million Euros.
Gui Menezes pointed out that the work on the south section, already concluded, corresponded to an investment of 540 thousand Euros and was “very important to the protection of the road.” As he added, the works on the north section, with an estimated budget of 480 thousand Euros, will be completed by the end of the year.
The Regional Secretary spoke during a visit to these coastal stabilization projects, having also visited the Maia swimming pool, which was also covered by a renewal intervention.
As part of the Government’s statutory visit to Santa Maria, Gui Menezes visited the recovery works of São Lourenço pool, a work with a budget of 60 thousand Euros.
On the occasion, he recalled that the Government invested last year 106 thousand Euros in the coastal and port consolidation of São Lourenço, “contributing to the improvement of operating and safety conditions” to the users of that port.
