Government of the Azores publishes final results of the tender for the allocation of 12 apartments in Angra do Heroísmo
The final lists containing selected applicants, alternate applicants and excluded applicants to the tender for the allocation of 12 apartments on a sublease scheme with purchase option in Canada do Breado neighbourhood in Angra do Heroísmo were published today.
A total of 54 applications were submitted, of which 20 were selected: 17 applications for 2-bedroom apartments and three applications for 3-bedroom apartments.
The next phase includes the public draw of the apartments among selected applicants.
The results may consulted at the offices of RIAC - Integrated Network for Citizen Support, the Housing Services of Terceira Island on rua Dr. Aníbal Bettencourt, n.º 242, piso 2, fração AI, or through the portal of the Regional Government of the Azores on the DHR tender page at http://www.azores.gov.pt/Portal/pt/entidades/srss-drh/textoImagem/Concursos.htm.
The applications were submitted by citizens aged 18 or more living in the Azores for at least three years. Eligible applicants cannot own property and required to have the necessary economic and financial capacity to support the rent, in accordance with the effort rates stipulated by the applicable rules and their socio-economic characteristics.
The dwellings allocated in this tender were leased to the Region and are intended for the permanent housing of families, through a sublease scheme with purchase option. This measure is aimed at families that, despite their income, have difficulties in accessing the free housing market.
The rent will be subsidised according to the proportionality of the effort rate and the status of the applicant; priority status will be awarded to young families, single-parent families or families with disabled members.
The support awarded to applicants varies between 10% and 35% of the monthly income supported by the Region, standing, on average, at 20%.
The lease of these dwellings represents a monthly investment of nearly 15 thousand Euros for the Region. Like similar procedures already launched by the Azorean Government, this is one of the housing access measures promoted by the Regional Government. It is intended to minimise the constraints of families in the access to housing loans.
For beneficiary families, the awarding of the subsidy by the Regional Government represents an annual saving of about 8,800 Euros.
During this legislative period, we have already allocated 150 dwellings under this measure on the islands of São Miguel and Terceira.
