Vasco Cordeiro congratulates Azorean athletes who won the National Athletics Championship
The President of the Government congratulated the 18 Azorean athletes who won the National Individual Adapted Athletics Championship in different age groups and sports events. The competition took place last weekend at Luso.
"It was with great satisfaction that I received the news of the excellent performance of Azorean athletes in this National Championship, honouring the name of the Autonomous Region of the Azores," said Vasco Cordeiro in his congratulatory message.
Moreover, Vasco Cordeiro stressed that the 37 national titles won during this competition demonstrate that "Azorean athletes can rival the best at a national and international level, thus being a reference and a source of inspiration for all Azoreans."
Nearly twenty Azorean athletes participated in the competition, representing the "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of Vila do Porto, Association of Parents and Friends of Disabled Children of the Azores, Terceira Youth Christian Association and School Sports Club "Os Vitorinos."
The following athletes won the National Athletics Championship in different age groups and sports events: Liliana Sousa, Ana Sofia Carvalho, Isaura Almeida, Pedro Eleutério, Ana Filipe, Melissa Cardoso, Tatiana Godinho, Maria Sousa, Adriano Nascimento, Jorge Lourenço, Luís Pimentel, Nelson Tavares, Sandro Ferreira, António Espínola, Sandra Cabral, Paulo Câmara, Rui Silva and Carlos Lima.
