The process of accession into the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in the Lands of Priolo, (which was developed within the LIFE Sustainable Laurel Forest project) included a series of steps towards the construction and implementation of a sustainable tourism development road map for the territory. The road map includes a diagnosis, a strategy, as well as an action plan that will be implemented throughout the 5 years of the award. This process is possible with the participation of the principal entities responsible for the territory in relation to environment and tourism, numerous companies, associations, as well as individual people.
This process allowed the description of an outline amongst all the stakeholders regarding goals and actions needed in order to develop a unique sustainable tourism in the Lands of Priolo. Unique sustainable tourism contributes not only to economic and social development of the population but also for the management and conservation of the rich and natural heritage of Lands of Priolo.
